The Crew

Our History

This story begins with the Goodridge family wanting to have a log home. Working with a farmer just down the road harvesting logs during the winter season, logs of the appropriate size were saved out for this log home. When spring came and the pile of logs were stacked up, the idea of sawing the logs themselves seemed logical. A Belsaw was purchased from a farm in Glover-located in a field on hay wagon covered with a tarp. The sawmill was brought to the neighbor’s farm and hooked to the tractor for power. Missing parts, the logs for the log home were sold to get the sawmill running… the story continues…

"The hustle and bustle of action is an exciting visit to the world of skilled people and powerful machines. Watch saws whirling, sawdust and chips flying, and trees and logs being cut and moved. Throughout the book all the logging and milling activity is surrounded by healthy, growing trees which will provide wood for future harvests." - George Buzzell, Orleans County (VT) Forester
