Extreme Makeover

In 2010, a 31 year old white cedar log home/office at Goodridge Lumber underwent a makeover with the help of the Perma-Chink family of products: new age blasting media, PRELUDE (primer), ENERGYSEAL (sealant), ULTRA II STAIN, LOG END SEAL, and ADVANCE SATIN TOPCOAT.

Step 1: Cleaning

Approximately 6000 sf of area ( consisting of log walls, porch ceilings with log rafters and log posts) was media blasted using the Perma-Chink Blaster Buddy and the new age blasting media (crushed recycled glass).

Step 2: Applying PRELUDE

A clear primer for porous wood surfaces, which fills the pores of the wood and provides a surface that allows a more uniform finish color to be obtained on the entire home.

Step 3: Resealing with ENERGYSEAL

Used to reseal between log rows, butt joints, corners and around doors and windows. Note the use of the round backing rod that is placed in the joint before resealing.

Completion of our log home included:

  • Staining -2 coats of ULTRA II STAIN
  • Apply LOG END SEAL
  • 1 coat of ADVANCE SATIN TOPCOAT


Our 31 year old log home looks like new!
